Place a basin under the trap to collect any water. Undo the nuts at the outlet and inlet of the U-bend by hand or wrench and remove it. A professional like Pinner Plumbers can provide expert help. When the nuts are loose you can remove the trap. Undo the cap that holds the ball and pivot rod within the pop-up body and remove the ball. Compression of the sprung clip on the clevis will allow withdrawal of the pivot rod. Take out the stopper for the pop up. Then, from below, undo the locking nut on the stopper body. Push the body through the hole to free up and then remove flange and body. Screw the locknut down onto the new pop-up drain and then the flat washer and the rubberised gasket, making sure that the side with the bevel is upwards. Put teflon tape onto the top of the threaded body. Seal the flange with plumber’s putty and place underneath the drain flange. From underneath, put the opening for the pivot exactly toward the middle of the sink and pull the body right down to seat the flange correctly. Screw the locknut and washer assembly up tight. Do not twist the flange so as not to break the putty seal, Eastcote Plumbers have the skills and equipment to complete the job. Put the pop-up stopper in the drain hole so its posts bottom most hole is the closest to the rear of the sink. Place the nylon washer with the bevel in the opening at the back of the new body with the bevel looking backwards. Place the cap at the rear of the ball on the pivot rod. With the spring clip sandwiching the hole that is in the clevis, pass the long end of the rod through the clip and the clevis. Place the ball end of the pivot rod in the body of the pop up and into the hole in the stem of the stopper. Screw the cap on to the pop-up body over the ball. Put the cap behind the ball on the pivot rod as shown. Sandwich a hole in the clevis with the spring clip. Now push the longest end of the rod through the clip and clevis. Put the end of the pivot rod with the ball fitted into the body opening and also into the hole in the stem of the stopper. Screw the cap on to the pop-up body over the ball.
