Unblock a Drain with a Snake

A blocked drain whenever it happens is an annoying problem for any household. There is a piece of equipment that can deal with this issue and that is the “Snake”. A coiled spiral metal snake that’s usually about 1/4-inch thick and up to 25 feet long ( retractible) with a handle on one end, the snake works in a totally different way to the common or garden plunger. The Snake is driven into the drain and twisted which drives it further into the blockage. The snake lets you push right into the main bulk of the blockage so that you can break it up and they are especially handy being long enough to reach deep within your pipework although this may be too involved for a DIY novice. Pinner Plumbers have the right equipment for the job. Large pressure sometimes needs to be applied when turning the handle to get it to bend around the various curves in pipework. Some snakes can be used as an attachment for an electric drill which will increase the power. The rotating action enables the tip of the snake to snag the bulk, hopefully breaking it up allowing bits to be pulled free with the rest being flushed away. Eastcote Plumbers will have this equipment ( and more ) with the necessary expertise and skill can ensure that there will be no issues or surprises upon completion increasing peace of mind.Below are some simple tips to prevent blockages:Use a sink strainer: A clogged kitchen sink is usually the result of foreign objects entering the drain. Use a sink strainer to prevent garbage and small items finding their way into the drain.Take care of your garbage disposal ( if you have one): When using a garbage disposal, run cold water at full volume while the machine is chopping up the garbage. Let the water run for a minute or so after you are done. This precaution flushes the garbage completely out of the small sink drainpipe and into the bigger main drain. Finally: Don’t put any foreign materials down your sink as they can harden and block the drain.
